    About Department

The Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA) is a statutory organization established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, with the objective of ensuring equal access to justice for all individuals, especially the underprivileged and marginalized sections of society. KeLSA works towards providing free legal aid and fostering legal awareness among the public, with a special focus on socially and economically disadvantaged groups. Through initiatives like Lok Adalats, mediation services, and legal literacy programs, KeLSA aims to resolve disputes amicably and efficiently, thereby reducing the burden on the judicial system. The Authority also operates Legal Aid Clinics, offers victim compensation, and advocates for specialized support for communities such as children, the elderly, victims of trafficking, the mentally ill, and families of incarcerated individuals. KeLSA’s outreach extends to both urban and rural areas of Kerala, with dedicated efforts to empower individuals with their legal rights and promote social justice. By leveraging modern tools, including digital platforms for e-Lok Adalats, KeLSA is committed to making legal services more accessible, inclusive, and transparent, reinforcing the state’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and human dignity.
